about neoncrayon
neoncrayon began in the late 1990s in Ontario, Canada, as a small web hosting and design studio. When the original company wound down in the early 2000s and its partners went their separate ways, the neoncrayon name stayed with its original owner, who never really left the world of computers and technology, eventually settling into IT management as a day job.
Years later, neoncrayon was rekindled. This time as a bespoke software studio, built to make tools that fill specific needs for underserved markets. Call them passion projects if you like. Every one of them is shaped by the same four tenets.
- 01Easy to use.
- 02Affordable.
- 03Works out of the box.
- 04Secure by design.
questions & answers
What's with the ANSI logo?
It was designed by friends of the owner back in the '90s, and it stuck.
Will you make me a custom software program?
No, sorry. neoncrayon builds its own products rather than custom work for hire.
Why do you host everything in Canada?
Because I'm proudly Canadian. IT is my day job, so Canadian residency is a box I'm always checking anyway. neoncrayon serves a global market, but it's Canadian first.
Why are all your program names Japanese?
A lifelong love for Japan. The words are beautiful, the kanji script is gorgeous, and I wanted to avoid the trend of naming an app after a common English word with one too many r's on the end.
